For others contemplating retirement, follow mission's good example and see it as a good opportunity. The obstacle is that we are all encouraged to see our organization jobs, whether personal businesses or working for others, as our identity. Identify those aspects of your life that have always tugged at you and have never found a place in your work life, and explore them. I have seen a friend or two who have hung onto even an antagonistic workplace, taking the daily battle as their identity. You can do other things and draw on your experience. Just a pep talk for those confronting this change.

Thank you for all your kind words and sage advice. Looking forward to applying it!
Don't lift anything heavier than a beer can or a night gown!...

While working...time just crept by...now that I am retired, time just flies by like a jet. Particularly for us older folks who have made it past 70...time really goes by even quicker...probably because we have little time left on this mortal rock...good time to get your life in order or suffer the leave your next of kin to the consequences.

Sounds appealing. I've started to cut back and prepare for retirement. And that's the plan over the next 2 to 4 years. Scale back until I'm basically doing nothing and other people are adequately doing what I do. When I'm not needed, I can step away. Looking forward to it.

Retirement actually is easier than you think...everything is cheaper...don't need new clothes, don't need more gas to go to work, don't spend as much on eating as you can eat whenever and whatever you want...your needs become simpler and with it a joy of freedom unlike anything you have experienced before.

Congrats on your new life change. Been retired 11 years and you'll find that you're never done doing nothing. Every day is Saturday so take it slow and smell the latakia.
