Frozenoak, I share your annoyance at opening too many tins at once. I always teeter because I have so many samples, open jars (that is, jarred blends not being aged), pouches, etc. It's a balancing act. Too much hesitancy means I end up with many wonderful blends that are held for years. Balance in general is an under appreciated virtue, maybe because you never quite know when it is attained.

Aristotle would agree with you about balance. Were he alive today, perhaps he would smoke a pipe. (But not often. )

I say go for a bad resolution like to gain 30 lbs next year or too eat more cake or do more hard drugs.... Something stupid. Cause no one ever follows through with theirs and at least when a bad resolution fails you can feel good about it.

trouttimes, that's profound. When I was a college freshman, I had a plan and ambition. It was not outlandish. I wasn't proposing a Nobel Prize, but I wanted to shoot high enough to get something going in life. Many things have unfolded with outlandish luck. A few tragedies, personal and historic, have interceded. I have accomplished a lot, but my "plan," still viable, has not bloomed. So this is a truism in life. Next Friday is a good goal for me. Let us keep on.

Yep, one day at a time for me. But my "Resolution" is to be a better father and husband, and be there for my family more. Not that I'm a bad man, but there is always room for improvement
