I found that the pipe was commissioned by the TinderBox chain along with several other high end makers like Dunhill. Several shapes were selected to celebrate the Co. 50th anniv. In 1978, but Caminetto only made the Cavalier. The pipes were listed in 1979 catalog numbered up to 250 limited edition, all rusticated Business grade. Now the added research begins because my pipe numbered 297/301 and the added 50 were not listed new for sale. Note stamp lacks Business or KS size. and is plain finished chestnut color grey irridescent stem gold mustache. A few were sold of the last 50 by Smokingpipes used and numbered black blast yellow amber like stems but stamped Sable Dor. .My conclusion is that my pipe is from Excellence grade and maybe only a few were made with easy to date stamping. Also these may be the last pipes made before Ascorti Radice break up .
