With my newly acquired unsmoked estate pipes I am now getting hour-long smokes out of I have now begun to dump midway through, simply because the bowl is so deep it makes relighting easier for me without taking a chance on scorching my fresh bowls. I have never had the ash taste problem as of yet, but I will watch for that as I sample various tobacco blends now.
