This unique condiment, when use in extreme moderation, is an additive like no other. However, it is now only a memory - a ghost in a long forgotten bowl of a misplaced pipe.

I specifically use it with several blends, the most interesting being EZ1. If you've never tried EZ1, you really have no ideal what you are missing. A blend of chocolate, mocha, and of course a nice mint topping.

Here's my question: What base blend would one us to make a Frosty Mint replica? What would you use to create the mint essence and how would you do it?

There are many who really want to find an answer to this question.

An infusion with a strong mint liqueur might work. I wouldn’t spray it on the tobacco. I would spread an ounce or two of the base tobacco in a shallow Tupperware type container with a shot glass full of Rumple Minze Peppermint Schnapps or something similar in the center. Put the cover on and leave it for a week. Dr. McGillicuddy’s Menthol Mint liqueur might give it more of a menthol kick if that is what you are looking for. I have never tried Frosty Mint so no idea what it tastes like. If the flavor is as strong as I have read, an infusion might not be enough, you may need to spray something directly on the tobacco.

I’m not sure what to use for a base tobacco. Maybe a combination of unflavored black Cavendish, Virginia, and burley.

Hopefully the experts will weigh in soon but I thought I would throw this out there. Infusions are easy to accomplish.

I’m sure Brobs will be right behind you on this 😁

All joking aside, there are many many smokers who used this condiment as a mixer. Yes, it was overly strong, but in a 1:7 part mix, it is very pleasant. In the culinary and drink world, no one bats an eye when it comes to mint. In the cigarette world think menthol. I have a feeling that the Sutliff used their mint from a concentrate. Lightening the mint would mean using it as a mixer could be a bit problematic - it would disappear when mixed in with the stronger flavors.

I suspected that an infusion would not give you that slap in the face menthol you need for a mixer. It wouldn’t be true to your original recipe, but what if you blended up an ounce or two of EZ1 (minus the Frosty Mint) and infused the entire batch with a menthol/mint liqueur. This may have the same end result as the 1:7 mix, although more homogeneous.

I use a small pinch of frosty mint when I smoke lane 1q. I think I got that idea from you @telescopes. So I guess as a base I would just go with some lane 1q. Maybe some peppermint oil would work for the topping? I’ve never done this before but dilute it with some water and spray it on?

Yes, I thought about this. I am thinking that an ounce of green river dark cavendish could substitute for the missing tobacco.

Here's my thought. There must be some mint concentrate for baking. Mist some over the Green River and let it set for a few weeks and then give it smoke. If it slaps you in the face hard enough to knock you silly against the wall, consider it done.

Yes, I still do the same and I know others do as well.

The Chocolate and Mocha in the EZ1 just take the who smoke to a whole other level. I have enough to take me 10 years out - it is a dessert treat after all - not a daily or even weekly thing.

Those who have tried it without a doubt come away positively impressed. Just a reminder, @BarrelProof was the originator of the current recipe.

Sounds like a good idea. I have seen mint extract in the baking section at the market. That should have some kick. Let us know how it turns out.

I still have at least a half a pound or more of Frosty Mint in mylar bags. That technically is enough for four more pounds of EZ1.

The issue is that I have only enough Chocolate Supreme left for one more pound. However, someday, I may want to make some more EZ1 and I have found that I prefer it double mint - which means 4 0z per pound instead of the usual 2. Once you get use to mint, it's easy to get use to a bit more.

If EZ1 with your Mint Cavendish is a keeper, you could call it EZ1.2.0 or EZ2, or not. 😁

I got some Smokin-G Mint that reminded me so much of Frosty Mint. Frosty Mint always cooled the mouth and so does Smokin-G Mint. You can get it on Smokers Outlet. It is reasonably priced and is a good on its own or as a mixer.

I would go to your local herbal shop and get some natural mint or peppermint extract oil from them and see if that works. Oils are very concentrated and just might give that “slap” that you’re looking for.
