Repairing Clay Pipes?

Hi All,

I've some clay pipes made by a modern pipe maker which I love.

I cook them in coals to clean them, which works well.

However, I've cracked a few, and want to put them back together.

I was thinking to use JB-Weld, but It's toxic and I'm not sure it will hold up to being baked clean.

The other idea I had was to go to the local pottery place, and put a bit of glaze/clay on the break, then refire it.

I know they're replaceable, but I'm a big fan of reuse, especially for these ones as they're not antiques.

Just buy a new one. No point trying to save it.

I'd buy a new one and I'd stop baking them.

The ones the OP is talking about are made in NZ by the guy who made the pipes for Lord of the Rings. They are a bit more expensive than the cheap ones you get online from SPC (not knocking those, I smoke one and love it)
