Repainting My (Old) Old Boy IM Corona Lighter

Wow, that makes me happy.

Also, the best kept secret of an Old Boy lighter (besides the fact that you need to learn the hard way that the gas begins to escape the minute you pop the lid open lol) is that you are never without a pipe tool. And amazingly, I have never had one fall out and become lost. Someone engineered that perfectly.

These briar ones are so dang beautiful.

Fairly sure the original was powder coated or electrostatically painted. Unfortunately, even those don't hold up very long. I don't think regular paint will hold up very long either.

There really is no paint that will weather keys, change, and the like. If treated as delicate It should last a long time. I will be in the market for a decent lighter this year (I blame you guys). I will not be looking at any painted models.

Beautiful paint job, I am hopeless with spray paint and afraid I would leave gobs running everywhere. Thankfully my wife found a pair of pants for me with 2 pockets. Keys in one and old boy in the other .

You must live in an odd place! I don't think I've even seen trousers with fewer than four pockets- some have five or six!

My LL Bean shorts and chino pants all have a small pocket inside of the right front pocket which is perfect if you carry a lighter as it rides above the bottom of the main pocket and not in contact with keys or change.

And it can be used as a screw driver to access the fill port or adjust the flame.

The base of the tool perfectly fits the fill port screw and the tip of the tool fits the adjustment screw.

The sharp end of the pick can also be used to vent the remaining gas in the lighter before refilling. The Old Boy is a very well-thought-out and executed device. None of mine are painted so I haven't had the paint problem.
