I use steam distilled water (less impurities) in all the humidification devices in my humidors.
Ok...isn't distilled steamed to begin with? Water boils, steam rises and then is cooled and distilled back into water...NO? I really should have paid attention in science class...

Yes, you are correct. That's the process for distillation. Years ago, someone explained to me that distilled water still had residue/matter and that steam distilled didn't; I've never found a simple clear explanation for the distinction between the two. The difference, if any, is probably negligible. There are some explanations tied to chemistry related to plant matter, where steam distillation is different than just distilled. The cost of a gallon jug is essentially the same; I opt for the steam distilled version to cover the bases.
