Regular lighters vs Pipe lighters

The other 5% is matces.

I used to use matches exclusively, 'cause somewhere somehow I read or was told that's what "real pipe smokers do". I've since abandoned that method, after trying to light my pipe on the stream w/ matches that kept going out. "Screw being a 'real pipe smoker', I'm not ANY kind of pipe smoker if I can't get the thing lit!"
Djeep or Bic for me. I asked a B&M owner once about a pipe lighter. He told me most of them were junk and overpriced. I figured that this may be the pipe smoking equivalent of $50 nippers in the fly fishing world (essentially, a glorified pair of fingernail clippers, but since they're "made for fly fishing", you can charge 1000X their actual value).

I tend to use a zippo pipe lighter, that I made or a bic.

I use wooden matches or a regular Zippo , I watched my Grandfather use a Zippo until the day he died
