Damn it is frustrating trying to take stupid fish photos!!! The second they see camera it's behind the rocks. Obviously at some point in their life they were beaten with cameras thereby instilling a fear of them. You can kinda see Wu and Gayngel, my purple tang and flame angel ;)

Thanks! It's weird, that rock on top of the flat surface on the left, shaped like a Millinium falcon and hollow. Weird rock!!

The reason for the flat surfaces is to provide a place to put coral fragments as I get them. It's flat and closer to the light source, perfect platform for coral frag plugs.

Looking good, Nate.
"Freshwater isn't that hard cobguy, the usual mistakes people make is not cycling the tank first to get a biosphere happening, and then adding too many fish at once which disrupts the biosphere causing ammonia levels to spike, or having too many fish for the size of their aquarium. Once you have a tank going, it's pretty smooth sailing with freshwater, it's once you get into the big tanks it can get more stressful, but also more rewarding."
+1 Andy.
I keep a 75 well filtered for my dad. I do not put the intensive plants and animals into it, like when I was younger and had the passion for them. It gives him an interest as he is home bound and the tank is in his den. Plenty of filtration but he over feeds them so I keep the animals and plant life simple and cheap. Good therapy though. Just glad he did not keep the birds

Thanks Okie!! Glad that there are others into tanks. It's always interesting to see how certain hobbies intersect with others around here.
Thanks weeds!
If I could afford a 500g 360deg tank I'd have a shark for sure... One with lasers.

I think you're right to hold out for the bigger tank. Fish need room to move. It's the only humane way to keep them.
I guess you could have an octopus then, right?

Added some nice coral... I love Scoly's! They are like little round aliens, opening at the middle and releasing tiny tentacles to grab food. Also this "blue monster" acropora is beautiful.

I'd forgotten how difficult it was to get things balanced in a reef. It's a constant pushing and pulling through the first year. Keeping coral fed yet preventing algae growth and keeping all levels in check. Sooo complicated that it's a miracle these reefs exist in nature.
