Hey Peterson experts! I’m on the looking for some recommendations. I’ve got a System standard 317 P-Lip that’s my absolute favorite. I’m thinking of getting a new pipe with a larger bowl to enjoy a longer smoke. I’m hoping you all can point me in the right direction. It could be an older model or a new one. I’m not opposed to hunting for estate pipes. I like the Army Mount and the P-Lip , so I'd like the new one to have both of these features Thanks in advance!

If you're going large check out the new Peterson Nassau Pub Pipe. If they had one in 9mm it would already be on the way to me.

Looks like 19, but it was among several when I ordered.
Excellent Choice ! May you enjoy it immensely ! I was eyeing 19 and 20 and would have gone for 20 which was about 1mm smaller, if it had the 9mm filtered stem. I bought tobacco instead. If I recall correctly 19's chamber is almost 24mm x 54mm. My Pub is 22.5mmx51.5mm chamber and i once went 2.5 hrs with it. The Nassau line are beautiful pipes in my opinion. They will darken over time but at a slower rate than the smooth natural per Peterson. Again, congratulations !

Of the larger Petersons I have a Pub Pipe in the deluxe and system standard B42. Both are excellent and I’m glad I bought them. The B42 overall may be my favorite pipe in my entire collection. Because of its size I don’t carry it around a lot, I save that honor for a 303 which is small and portable, but it’s a favorite when I get time to relax on the porch. Nothing other pipe feels as good in the hand as my B42. It’s similar to a Savinelli 320 in the roundness and hand feel but with the bend a much prefer it. It’s on the larger side for clenching but not bad. The B42 would get my vote for you.

I gravitate to larger bowls, Petes included. My favorites are the B42 for a system pipe, the Pub pipe (though it can be a bugger to clean well), and the Sherlock Holmes Rathbone (which often has a bigger chamber than House and Pub pipes). The Mycroft can also get big, but the Rathbone almost always has a bigger bowl.

Rathbone bowls are generally slightly smaller than Pub bowls and always substantially smaller than House bowls.

Substantially is a bit much. Just grabbed a random three off SP: Rathbone has depth of 1.97 and width of 0.80, Pub has a depth of 1.99 and width of 0.83, and House has depth of 2.13 and width of 0.83. Quite comparable bowls. My Rathbone has a bigger bowl than my Pub. Even the difference between the House and Rathbone is .16 chamber depth and 0.03 width. Not substantial by any means.

As I said, Pubs are close, only slightly bigger.

House pipes? In general, and not cherry picking, there can easily be up to .40 inches difference in depth compared to a Rathbone, which is pretty substantial in a pipe bowl. Rathbones are generally 47mm or a little less, house pipes 57mm or a little less - but pipes can vary in depth for sure from pipe to pipe - like any pipes they aren't uniform, and wasn't really looking to argue about it, but in general, yes, substantially bigger on average. My experience with a few Rathbones and a few House pipes bears that out, no doubt YMMV, no worries.

Have all of those. While I like my Rathbone, ain't no way its chamber is bigger than the house or pub pipe.
