Hey Peterson experts! I’m on the looking for some recommendations. I’ve got a System standard 317 P-Lip that’s my absolute favorite. I’m thinking of getting a new pipe with a larger bowl to enjoy a longer smoke. I’m hoping you all can point me in the right direction. It could be an older model or a new one. I’m not opposed to hunting for estate pipes. I like the Army Mount and the P-Lip , so I'd like the new one to have both of these features
Thanks in advance!

The new system standards come with acrylic P-lips. I like them.
They all seem to be the same size / interchangeable stem among the line. At least 312 / 314 that I've checked.
314 has been my fav for a long time, same shape as 317 but better chamber size for me.
It seems also now that the 312 is the same chamber size as 314, and with the same stem it hangs just the same, but has more briar around the bowl for a heftier feel and less heat issues.
I recommend these as they are the same shape as your 317 and I'm a fan of them.
If you want a significantly larger bowl, look at the B-42. But it will hang just a little differently in the clench, I think.

Thanks for the feedback, I am looking for something larger, I'll take a look at the B-42.

Love the 317... and ALL the other System Pipes too!!:ROFLMAO: I have three B42's and each smokes amazing! Ya just gotta love the Peterson System Pipe... unless you are a fishtail guy!
But ya can't go wrong with any of them.
In fact all my Pete straight pipes are p-lip as well. I only have the FT on a meerschaum that was a gift, a couple of churchwardens and an old U of M Dunhill from 1927.
One gets acclimated and it is tough for me to enjoy the FT, so I understand what the p-lip haters are saying.
BUT, since you enjoy the 317, buy one of each! You will enjoy the journey, I promise! puffy

I have various Petersons with an "XL" designation and some of them have pretty generous bowls as, I think, they are intended to. The Sherlock Holmes series Professor and Milverton and whatever their equivalents are number wise have decent bowl sizes as do some others in that series.

Second, or third (lost track of) any recommendation for a Pub Pipe or a House Pipe. I like them bent and at least for me they aren't unwieldy.

If you go to the Peterson website you can review the various styles and all the dimensions.

I've been looking for the same lately. The Pub pipe is great but VERY large (mine is larger than current house pipe) though it hangs normally and weight isn't felt. I've been looking at the B42 for wall thickness and chamber size of 20mmx42mm which is pretty close to perfect size according to many including Mark irwin who wrote the book, per PPN commentary. 309 is a good choice too.
