The tin note on the Merry monk is a savory punch to the face, holy smokes haha. Hope I like it cause I ordered two. Definitely a danger of online purchases killing time at work at 2 am. I'd forgotten half of what I bought or why I chose these leaves.

Will update with some first impressions as it goes but im pretty slow. Happy piping folks!

@didimauw turned me on to the Briar Fox. Good stuff. The Newminster is also a great staple tobacco.

I just whiffed a can of the Monk at pipe club last night and am considering an acquisition.

Just smoked my first bowl of Merry Monk. I enjoyed it quite a bit but I wouldn’t say it’s an all day smoke. The most savory blend I’ve smoked: tastes like a pork roast or mesquite with some spice and slowly turns more into an oak woodchips taste which reminds me of a wooden barrel with a hint of bourbon and earthiness. Very full of flavour just very different from anything else I’ve tried. Perfect thing to smoke at your hippie cousin’s wedding who’s decided to go with vegan catering. Burned low and slow, had one relight but thats because I got interrupted 🙂
