Recent PAD (Alden, Piersel, Walker, KBB)

The past 6-8 weeks have been super busy for me and my presence online, but real life PAD persists.
Late 20's KBB Drinkless Kaywoodie Thorn in a rather unique shape. Triangle shank with an offset "diamond" panel-dublin bowl.

A Northern Briars (Ian Walker) G1 Panel in Regal finish. This one is SUPER light, 19.5g.

My first Ryan Alden and first morta pipe. Ryan tells me the block of bog oak was harvested by a one Chris Askwith. Just had its first smoke today (Tilbury). Not sure if it was the flavor of the morta or the tobacco itself but I got flavors Ive never tasted before. Sweet, deep, musky loveliness.

Finally, my third Scottie Piersel commission. A super stacked "Dubney". I wanted a tapestry of birdseye and the briar certainly delivered.

Like the stem on that Alden, and the grain on the stack, and always have a weakness for the Drinkless, and that's an especially unique shape, to me. My Drinkless is just a run-of-the-mill Ruff-Tone, but a smooth smoker.

Oh,That Northern Briars G 1 Looks superb, someday I must get me one of those, Northern Briars've gotten very positive user comments.I wonder hows the draw on these, supposedly pretty wide open?

Paul, the draw is indeed wide open. It practically smokes itself. For the price it’s hard to beat.

I like every one of them. I just got a Ryan Alden morta myself and love it's smoking characteristics. I'll have to try some Tilbury in it. That's the nicest looking Northern Briar pipe I've seen. And those early Kaywoodie Thorns are great pipes. I'd say my late 20s Thorn is better made than my 1927 Dunhill Shell. The blast is shallower, but it's a beautiful pipe.

Nice haul! I owned a Thorn at one point just like yours. In fact, that pipe may have been in my mouth. I like the Ian Walker pipe a lot. It's something along the lines of what I would smoke myself, and you don't find many lightweight Northern Briars. It's a great find. I think the Piersel is my favorite looking pipe of the bunch. It's easy on the eyes. I've tried a number of mortas, but I can't get past the boggy flavor. I know most remark that morta has a neutral flavor, but my experiences have been otherwise. Nonetheless, it's a good looking pipe too and it sounds like you're happy across the board which is all the matters. Enjoy! ::

I must confess ,of all my briars to this day,my old Estate Gbd's seem to smoke the very best,effortlessly,no gurgling,This is a bit ridiculous because these two what I have(New Era & Century models)weren't higher end pipes they produced back then,
