Recent Comoy's

I'm a fan of French pipes, as such things go, and I do think they represent a good value and some classic styling. I see modern-production Comoy's around sometimes, and was curious if anyone had input on their quality. Are they about what you'd expect from an $80 sandblast, or do they punch above their weight class?

I've been wondering the same. They look nice and they pop up as unsmoked estates all the time at pretty friendly prices.

Normally I would consider seeing a lot of estates out there a bad sign, but French pipes tend to be so undervalued, I'm not convinced that's a concern here.

I have a recent production Comoy's "redbark" billiard and it is light in weight, well drilled, and smokes well. The only criticism is the mouthpiece is a bit uncomfortable (pre-formed) and was quick to oxidize

I would have thought for 80 $ you could get an better estate Comoy from the pre cadogan era with a good qualty bit

I've got a couple that get used on a regular basis. A bulldog and a bent pot with a cumberland stem. I consider them both comfortable and enjoyable smokers. The bulldog and it's oxidized stem is looking "uglier" all the time, as it should. It's a bulldog after all.

I have four newer Comoy's (all bought new within the last 3 years) and they're my favorite smokers.
