Since I smoke almost flakes exclusively, I do get a bit tired of having to dry my tobacco an hour or more before smoking. Recently I have found a few blends that need no drying time. It is a real pleasure grabbing a tin and loading up a great blend whenever the mood strikes.
Here is a list of my NO WAIT blends that I have been smoking a lot of.
Astley's no. 44 Dark Flake

Wessex Brown Virginia Flake

Wessex Brigade Sovereign Curly Cut

John Aylesbury Luxury Flake

Solani Silver Flake

Aged Escudo..seems age takes away some of the moisture so no drying time needed.
Anyone else get tired of waiting like I do? Have any blends that you don't have to wait on?

I'll add H&H Black House to that list. I recently opened my first tin of this blend and it actually seemed to be a bit dry, but ready to throw in the pipe and light up. I even started experimenting with adding a little bit of perique to it. It adds a bit of zing to an already excellent blend.

This is one of the reasons I enjoy the C&D blends. They are always interesting to me and very rarely are they moist. Whether thay be flakes, plugs or straight cuts C&D blends are always ready-to-smoke for me.

I'm smokin flake more & more.Part of what draws me to it is the preparation, drying, stuff, roll etc..And determining how wet, dry, etc.Lookin to get in to some rope and plug next. :puffy:

weezell, I have two ropes and I have been letting them sit in the tins for a couple of months now hoping they will dry out. I cut some rope and let it sit out for over 3 hours and still it was too wet to smoke, it burned like crap when I tried smoking it. I am going to let it sit out all day next time I reach for it.
I used to like the drying and playing also and sometimes still do, however it is nice to reach for something knowing it is the perfect moisture level.
When I used to smoke latakia blends, I had quite a few C&D blends and loved the way they came ready to fire up.

I used to keep all of my tobacco humidified or tightly sealed always having about 20 different blends close at hand. For years now I don't humidify them anymore and just replace the ones in my rotation back into the tins or jars and let them dry as time goes by. My smoking has been more satisfying with dry tobacco than moist, no more gurgling pipe, smoking to the bottom of the bowl where the most flavor is concentrated is easier and tastier. If the baccy is too dry, I just fill the bowl and breathe into the chamber a couple times and it's back to perfect.

Don't know for sure but C&D is one of the only blenders that I find sell their tobaccos on the dryer side. Tobacco that comes packaged very moist just increases the profit margin for the manufacturer as you probably know. The percentage of moisture can run quite high on some tinned blends.

Only 15-30 minute air-time IMHO for;

Peterson's UF

Peterson's Irish

Dunhill Flake

SG 1792 (for some reason this blend's flake dries really fast VS

their other blends, so I have been smoke'in this ALOT as of late)

I have also turned to drying my tobacco before smoking...usually several hours worth of drying time.
I feel it makes a much better smoke, but one needs to adjust the pack and smoking cadence or it'll burn fast and hot. Once I got used to smoking dry tobacco I can hardly stand to smoke any other way. docwatson makes some really good points about the advantages of smoking dry that I would second.

Just found another one that is perfect right out of the tin. It is Fribourg & Treyer Cut Virginia Plug. I just opened a new tin and boy am I happy. It is one of my favorites and I just finished a ten year old tin that needed some drying time before smoking, not a lot but some. Interesting the newer stuff needs none.
