Reading and Smoking......[chooching?]

For those that like to read whilst enjoying a pipe, what’s your preference?

I’ve been enjoying Lovecraft. The combo has been exceptional.

I'll probably be re-reading Patrick Obrian's "Aubrey/Maturin" series. Most recently though, I've been wading through "Albion's Seed", a very dry, but well researched look at British colonization of America.

I do enjoy reading. But not as much as I used to. I need magnifying glasses now days. So usually end up plugged into MP3 player for some music.

Been reading a lot of Lovecraft myself lately. Also a big Tolkien fan, and I've been meaning to get started on Moby Dick one of these days as well.

I read just about anything. I picked up speed reading back in college, and I usually plow through a few books a week, more when I have less going on.

I go through phases where I read a lot.
Right now not so much.
I changed gigs and went to %100 remote.
So I work at my desk at home.
I used to read everyday during my lunch break.
Now I typically just pop on the TV and lower my IQ with some mindless garbage.
I'll read more during the summer next to the pool.

Speed Reading in high school. That and typing were probabloy the subjects most used over my life-time. None of my favored authors are producing any longer, all dead. I will read anything of interest, fiction by favorite authors and non-fiction by anyone, depending on the subject matter and my interest. I usually have a "dead tree" book going and two others on the Kindle. An hour dedicated to reading every night before I drop off to sleep.

They go hand in hand, reading and the pipe. They enhance each read in its own way, imparting mysticism to fantasy, historicism to historical nonfiction and biography, mysteriousness to mysteries, and so on. Basically, it magnifies the central aspect of every read. Pure magic.

I usually don't read while smoking a pipe. I like to just sit and do nothing while smoking. In the past, I have read some Maigret while smoking.

LOTR l read every few years. As for fantasy l also like the Dragonlance books. And I also like mysteries.

Non-fiction mostly, but I like to change it up. I like biographies and music theory books alot also.
Thinking about starting King's Dark Tower series over again.
