Yes, perfectly fine for a new guy. Treat it like most Va blends. Make sure it's dry enough and smoke slowly.

It is among the best blends out there. I have a lot stored up for future use. It is a VaBurPer and is not strong in my opinion. Most call it "medium" strength. If I could only pick one tobacco this would be the one.

Sure, however you may not appreciate it as much as you will once you have more experience. When I first started out, Old Gowrie tasted like cigarette smoke because I wan't able to taste the subtleties that you find in VA's. You're experience could be totally different than mine though.

I first tried Old Gowrie as a fairly experienced Virgina smoker and found it to be medium-strength and tasty - a good all day smoke if you're so inclined.

It's a great ready rubbed flake. There's much speculation about it as the original recipe by rattray's was pure virginia, now according the the Kolhouse and Kopp site it's Va Burly and Perique. If there is perique it's a very small amount, like almost unnoticeable, or to me unnoticeable. I find it pretty medium on the nicotine spectrum, like you definitely feel it, even on the tin it talks about it having tranqulizing properties. Like on an empty stomach it really affects me, so it's got a good bit of nicotine in my view
