Off topic a bit, but trolls just do trolling.
On another forum im on there was a guy who joined who we immediately realized was a troll.
We let him hang out for awhile because he was so ridiculous that we tolerated his antics....for awhile. We nicknamed him "well actually". It was even added under his username.
It was on a firearm forum. He would ask a question like, "how many barrel lengths did Ruger Single Six come in in the 1970s?"
Someone would answer his question. He would come back with, "well actually, in 1974 there was a commemorative addition which they made 74 serialized revolvers for their employees which had a 7 7/8 inch barrel."
Ummm, ok.
He would do that with EVERY question. We weren't sure if he was just a show off, a mentally ill weirdo, or a troll. We landed on troll. Then the game was to research everything he "well actually-ed" to find a flaw, then "well actually" him right back.
The funny thing was, he was either very knowledgeable, or had good Google-fu skills and a lot of spare time, he was rarely wrong. But his trivial facts were just that, trivial.
Another funny thing, many of us learned a few things during the 3 weeks or so he was there. Eventually people stopped engaging with him and he disappeared.
