Having alot of problems with both but more with parents. They are in their 70's.
It's their job. I'm an "in my 70's" parent and I know the territory from the other side of the equation.

Which also reminds me...

My wife and I are in our 70's. Our grandson and his son just moved out of our house after living here for 3 years having nowhere to live at the time. Don't regret taking them in and we loved having them with us. But, concern about one's family members naturally flows in both directions of the family tree.

They wiped your ass...

Depending on how shit turns out you may wipe their asses.

Then... if you're very unlucky, your kids may have to wipe yours.

Give respect with the hope that you might get some in return.

It's the circle of life.

Totally. When my parents declined in their 90’s I spent 2 years running between work and them to take care of their needs, and that occasionally included butt wiping. When they finally agreed to 24//7 in home care giving I still ran between work and their home for the next 7 years, but was spared butt duty. They took care of me and I returned the responsibility.

Dealing with aging and/or sick parents is a special kind of heartbreak.

I lost both my parents this year and mostly what I feel is relief.
If you can’t understand that or your personal experience wasn’t that way, count that as a blessing.

@sablebrush52, how much did that 24/7 care for your parents cost?
In 2024/25 in Middle Tennessee, it’s about $380,000.00 per parent per year.

This was back in 2006 and ended with my father’s passing in 2012. It cost about $130,000 a year for the two of them. Even with inflation, $380,000 per person sounds exorbitant.
I also took over their finances and investments and was able to defray most of the cost.
