In any event, that was over a year ago and I have not heard anything more about it.
I may have spoken too soon. I think I see Dog the bounty hunter walking up to the born right now . . .

I too was taken by surprise by the tools. Normally Google warns me or there is a sign so I can choose an alternate route. Lucky I had cash. I normally do not.

Yes the tolls suck. When we go to Michigan from wisconsin, we now avoid them. The first time we went, it was 1.50, .75, 3.25, 1.20 .80 and .85 or something like that, all within the same 5 miles. Where do they get these numbers from?

the tolls are a genuine if minor annoyance.
i didn't have enough change on my way back, which of course is the direction in which you have to go through the unmanned toll booth. i wound up taking a pic with my phone of the tollbooth marker, and of the license place of my rental car. that was enough info to pay the great state of illinois its $1.50.
i wouldn't give up the chicago show for anything so petty. on the other hand it didn't make me love illinois.

Yeah, that happened to me a few years ago. I ignored the bill they sent me in the mail and a few months later received a bill for $300+ For a missed $1.50 toll. I ignored it too. When I go through there I'm always tempted to just skip the toll booths in defiance. Because I have that ridiculous outstanding toll charge paying online is likely not an option. Tolls stink.

I know they send them to a collection agency after something like 90 days. I don't know how diligent they are about pursuing people from out of state should they skip tolls. I'm guessing that if you're from a non-contiguous state and don't pay up, there isn't much that they're going to do to you. They're more concerned with harassing the residents.
