Esteemed Pipers...
Does anyone own a Randy Wiley pipe? If so, how does it rate? I ask because I see several online that I might add to my collection, but, they are at a price point that, for me, dictates I perform my due diligence. Any information is appreciated.
Cheers,
Chili

I have two of them, both purchased as estates. I have smoked less than ten bowls through both pipes combined and each smoke has been very good. I am looking for at least one more for my collection. I hope this is useful..

I don't own one anymore, but the one I had was really well made. All stems are acrylic, if that matters. I felt the airway was a little constricted for my tastes at the time, but I was just starting out when I bought it and I was really into pipes with open drafts. Mine was a "Galleon," which has a really nice micro-rustication. Good value if you like big pipes and acrylic stems.

I don't own a Wiley and don't think I will, though the prices are certainly attractive. I object to the shaping which to me lack finesse.

I just bought my first Wiley a couple weeks ago, it's a new pipe. I love it, it's been in the daily smoker pipe since day one along my danish freehands, (Nording, Winslow, Jeppeson). Smooth and cool draw, easy cleaning, well balanced and very light weight, easy to clench while working. I would say if you can to examine before buying, I've handled about a dozen and each one was different.

I have one. A Patina Freehand. Very thick walls and deep bowl. It's a great smoker and looks nice - dedicated flake/VaPer pipe.

I've owned two in the past. Large pipes. both smoked well. Neither one would pass a pipe cleaner, and I found that they were hard to clean post smoke without taking them apart. Would I own one again? Maybe, the price points are not bad at all in my opinion, but I think I would look at different options before that.

Hi

I own a number of Randy Wiley pipes and recommend his offerings. Some make mention that Wiley makes large pipes. No doubt he does but to those who have been around Randy's creations one can find lighter smaller varieties. His Galleon line for example has a number of moderately sized offerings as do his other lines. Wiley makes artisan pipes at reasonable prices that typically smoke very well.I recommend looking around finding a pipe that fits you and making the purchase.

My first pipe was a Randy Wiley. My local B&M owner recommended the brand as a good starter pipe with excellent quality. It does smoke great.

Randy is one of the most underrated American carvers. He really could be selling his pipes at a higher price point than he does. I would say because of his generous pricing Randy is one to look into if you're wanting to get your feet wet with American artisan carvers.
I picked up an estate 1/8th bent bulldog in his Galleon finish. It's a champ. Well balanced weight wise and has a wonderful draw. Passes a cleaner with no problems.

Seems mixed...I do like the "Old Oak" style which look's like a tree. Since Father's Day is soon and

I have a 5 Bill gift (Thank You Wife)...It's going to be a Dunhill.
