No hurricanes here but I remember listening to a radio during a tornado in the basement as a kid on several occasions.

No hurricanes or tornados in California but I do listen to NPR on my commute and on my lunch break.

Kerosene radio..... I just have a crank in the trunk of the car. That's hardcore.

The only radio I listen to is an AM news station, other than that it's my sons watching their DVD's

radio>TV, but thats the opinion of a mountain kid. i do not like technology takes me forever just to get on my computer.

I have to be honest, I've never heard of a kerosene radio before this. I have a crank radio/light combo I keep in case we lose power. We get the occasional quake and bad summer storm, but winter is when we get nailed. Ice Storm in '98 was a wake up call for me, I always keep supplies onhand now....
