I've had the honor of meeting lonestar in person and I'm telling you folks, the pictures don't do them justice. I'm not a professional reviewer like bigvan or anything, but you can tell quality. They are extraordinary. Buy 'em while you can still afford 'em. Thank you bigvan, for the honest review.

Thanks for the review Bigvan - that Lonestar is Bent Brandy is phenomenal. Every single pipe I've seen by Lonestar has been nothing short of stellar.

Thank you JJ ! Before anything else, I want people to love the pipes I make for them. So glad to hear the kind words from you and everyone. This one was really walking the line of needing a sandblast, but that grain was so sweet I had to forgive its sins and leave it smooth :D

She's a beauty for sure, the grain came out perfect for the shape.
Speaking of which, couldn't that also be considered a volcano?
Hats off to lonestar, I'm impressed

"Speaking of which, couldn't that also be considered a volcano?"
Good question, Zanthal. "Brandy" and "Volcano" are often used interchangeably, but a brandy has an overall round shape like a brandy snifter, and a volcano has a bowl with flatter sides (sometimes concave) and maybe a slightly flatter bottom.
He's a classic volcano by Scott Thile for comparison.

Well I am very happy to say I commissioned a Ryan Alden pipe today. We are going to go with a group 4ish billiard with Honduran Rosewood Burl extension and Cumberland stem. It will be a straight pipe or have a slight 1/8 bend. We are either going to go with a blast, rusticated, or smoothe(straight grain) finish. He knows I like the former two best but I am going to let the artist and the block determine the finish. I am so excited! :D

Thanks for pointing out the obvious. I sometimes miss the most obvious answer when I am working nights. I too have scheduled a commission. I went with the surprise me route. Went with smooth, Cumberland stem, and wood inlay, everything else up to the discretion of Lonestar.
