The carver from the OP appears to be
ISMAIL OZEL. He makes some interesting figurals.
I thought the OP looked like Ismail Ozel's work.
He actually came to an RTDA show here in the US in the 1980s. A company brought him to the show and was promoting his work, I think it was Royal Meerschaum. In their booth they displayed an enormous pipe Ismail had carved, I think it was Anthony and Cleopatra on a barge in the Nile.
It was quite interesting and informative talking with the fellow who was importing
Ismail's pipes. After the show I ended up getting a couple hundred of their pipes, (none by Ismail though). Their mid-range pipes were very nice, and even a few pieces that were works of art, though nothing of the size, intricacy and detail of Ismail Ozel's carvings.
