They might be just practicing on the newbies before moving on to unfaithful internet shoppers.
Shit, that's gotta be true! That's the greatest motivation yet to stock up...time to double-down on my cellaring.

That is the truth, and a good reason to hoard cellar. But, my problem is that it is also true of shrimp, diesel fuel, ammo and carrot cake. All things that I hold near and dear to my heart.
Woods, Just out of sheer curiosity, can you please put these in order of importance?

So, Dan has a shrimp farm in PA! That is cool, though I like saltwater shrimps better.
I mean, you wouldn't freeze the little suckers, would you??

Carrot cake, it just tastes better when taken at gunpoint.
The Carrot Cake Wars will no doubt be a prominent and brutal feature of the looming apocalypse.

Why was chewing tobacco banned?
I heard it was because a few of the 0.0001% of the population that chews tobacco were occasionally spitting on the sidewalk...and the Poop Patrol Union threatened to strike if their workers were expected to deal with that too.

Why was chewing tobacco banned?

I am by no means an expert on laws. I was speaking out of a conversation I had had with Skip at The Briary, about his fears that shipping pipe tobacco would affect him like it did when the FDA got a hold of chewing tobacco. I did just google chewing tobacco and found a lot of places that sell it online, which is weird. When he told me years ago, I did google chewing tobacco then and found a bunch of notices about no longer being able to sell chewing tobacco. I also noticed how the cigarette companies bought up all of the chewing tobacco brands.
I have written Skip and email just now asking him to elaborate on our conversation concerning chewing tobaccos.
And, there are way more men who chew tobacco than smoke pipes, it is a much larger industry.
I know that we have at least one state that has forbid shipping of pipe tobaccos, so... it’s not outside the realm of possibilities.

As I understand it, there is no "ban" on chewing tobacco anywhere...but there are some states that ban web/mail order of it to anyone but a licensed retailer...just as with cigarettes.
Whether there is any federal law/regulation regarding chew in addition to the state laws, I have no idea.

I misspoke (mis-typed). I meant ban on online orders, but clearly I was wrong. I know that I cannot oder chewing tobacco online in Alabama, which is why I have a hard time buying my Cotton Boll Twists. But, I was possibly misinformed. I am waiting on Skip to elaborate. I do know that he no longer deals in chewing tobaccos now. I am just not clear as to why. He did explain it, but maybe I just didn’t understand.

Chewing tobacco is covered under the same legislation as cigarettes, governing the rules on interstate trade, specifically the amended Jenkin's Act. Here's the law:

https://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/15/376a
The PACT Act (2009) extended the Jenkin's Act to include smokeless tobacco (or additional smokeless tobaccos that weren't previously covered?), so this is probably what Skip is talking about. The same act that gave FDA regulatory authority also extended the Jenkin's Act to include additional sorts of tobacco, but very specifically not cigars or pipe tobacco.

Thanks for the confirmation, Sykes.
+1 … But whatever exactly all that legal mumbo-jumbo actually means (I immediately start to nod off when I try to read stuff like that) apparently it does not prohibit on-line sales, as Cosmic said, because sites that sell chew are only restricted from shipping to certain states due to state law.
So I'm as confused about it now as Cosmic is.

"Indian Country" is immunized against many Federal laws and most of the pesky regulations. Private carriers, even those with government contracts provide delivery to one's door. Not sure of my logic but, it seems some tribes make good money as they are able to avoid many regulations and the having to collect taxes, Federal, State and local on sales. Perhaps they have found another niche. A niche which can fill the void being created as states are loosening up gambling laws allowing casinos, which now compete with what was once a near monopoly for the reservations.
