Love pipes with rustication and a 1/4 bend.

I like some straight pipes but most don't appeal to me. Not quite sure what type of bowl design I like but I'm sure I'll come to a conclusion eventually.

So far...I like authors, bulldogs, apples, and billiards with 1/4-1/2 bent stem or straight on a billiard. Dark brown to black, if smooth I like lots of Birdseyes...so far.

I'm with Schmitzbitz. I am attracted to well executed traditional shapes, straight, with longer shanks or stems and light. I also agree with Zwolanek that I prize smokeability over anything and find that simple shapes with cylindrical bowls rather than tapered bowls deliver just that. I am attracted to deep craggy rustication and well executed sandblasting but I do also like smooth pipes. I love stained wood period, but am the most bedazzled by red stains, orange/amber stains and contrast stains. I have always been a fan of high contrast and architectural qualities.

75% of the reason I opened this thread was because I saw hobie1dog had posted and I had to read his... colourful... comment.
Disappointed by the lack of accompanying pictures, though.
But since I'm here, I'll say that I tend to like the traditional shapes, billiard, bulldog and apple in particular. I've got a dublin that I've never smoked, just because I don't like the look of it. I like interplay of smooth and rusticated. My favourite pipes have some of both in interesting patterns.

Wow. Thanks for all the great responses, Gang.
Like most of us, I have an apperciation for all pipe styles, but some just aren't me. Doesn't mean I can't like 'em all though.
Cortezattic, those are some seriously beautiful Bulldogs. Thanks for sharing.
By in large, my first criteria when choosing a pipe, is that I just like the way it looks.
(+1) Lawrence.
I'll compromise on the color when it comes to a cob because, hell, it's a cob.
(+1) reichenbach. I have a couple MMs on my PAD wish list at the moment.
One day I am going to get an unfinished Nording though
Heard that, Baron. I know it's not your usual style, but I don't think you'll be disappointed.
Smooth and curvy like Jeanine Turners backside
ROFLMFAO!! But, I know what you mean, hobiedog.

I like bent pipes but just today I ordered a couple cobs and a hatfield looking pipe. These will be my first 3 straight pipes.
