question on Penzance

Last month I ordered some Penzance, opened the box but did not have time to fool with it until today. I started to jar it up and I noticed bloom on it. I checked the tin note it was great, so I saved one pipe load to try, it was awesome. Is this usual for new tobacco to have bloom on it?

Penzance is prone to develop bloom even when pretty new. I've noticed some on mine before and I've heard of others here who have it on theirs straight out of the package.

Bloom is a fine white powder or dust (when viewed under magnification it is crystalline) which forms on cigars when oils exude from the tobacco as a result of aging. Plume is a good sign that a cigar has been properly aged, and it can easily be brushed off.

I hear they are pretty darn good.
