Question For The Long Time Pipe Smokers

I've smoked for maybe 12 or 13 years now. I found Half & Half during year two and to this day I consider it my defining smoke. I have many other blends of higher quality which I always enjoy, but to Half & Half I will always return.

I'm a simple man with simple tastes and I enjoy H&H because it gets the job done, it's always enjoyable, and it's a no fuss experience.

I have a pouch of h&h that I got cause I threw it in my cart to get to that free shipping price point. Didn’t look into it much just knew it was an old blend. Then I mistakenly read reviews about it so I got nervous to try it. Waiting for myself to lose my bias opinion about it to try it. Its weird how other’s opinions can affect us even if we don’t intend it that way.

Never really cared for orientals when mixed with other tobacco. It dilutes them too much.

Thats interesting to know. I will keep an eye out for a straight oriental in the future. Probably won’t buy Shandy again but its been a good introduction to something new I guess.

Bayou Morning Flake

Haven’t tried the flake yet but bayou morning and haunted bookshop are my two favorites and like you it was love at first smoke.

Yeah, opinions of which there are many on the internet! I'd say - when you do end up trying it - think about the history behind the blend and all those who have enjoyed it over the decades, rather than the negatives that you've read in reviews. Sure, it's not the same as it once was, but it's still great in my opinion.

I’ve been pipe smoking for over 50 years and have been all over the map.
Smoked a lot of Balkan Sobranie and 759 in the 70’s and 80’s, and a lot of Captain Black. Smoked a lot of English blends, burleys, OTCs, etc.
About 20 years ago I hit a serious wall with Latakia, such that even the thought of it made me want to hurl.
Since then it’s been Virginias and their variants.
Once in a long while a mild English hits the spot, and I went on a SWRA binge for the past couple of months, wiping out a 14 oz tin of it.
It really comes down to whatever I feel like smoking, but English remains a very minor part of it.

Been smoking pipes for 5 yrs now, I've bought alot of stuff based on hype, legacy, YouTube recs and such. Much of which did not suit my taste. I found what i like and have plenty of what I really enjoy an plenty of other things to break the monotony from time to time.
