Thanks! This much I can tell you. It’s post WW2 and it’s a Sasieni 2nd. It’s a highly enough rated 2nd that Sasieni put their name on it, which they didn’t do with lesser grades.
Sasieni, like Comoy, downstreamed their lesser wood, creating a prolific number of 2nds, 3rds, 4ths, etc.
Thanks for adding that. It seems like a well-made pipe. I’m looking at auctions in Japan. Japanese collectors are usually right on this stuff. But they are somewhat different than other collectors. These two pipes are likely to go for over 100$. Not too bad if one wanted to go for it. They’re nice looking pipes. However, one can get genuine verified pre-transition Comoy’s for that. On the other hand, these ARE two nice looking specimens. If people are interested to know, I can follow and report what they went for. Actually, it’s also Chinese buying these. The Yen is cheap.I should add that notwithstanding the Wesley write-up the Sashar was not sold only in South Africa. It appears in a variety of brand directories, trade advertisements, and price lists aimed at the UK market as well.
