I saw This new offering from G&H Co widely available at major central European tobacconist shops ,yet,I'd assume this and few others G&H offering being distributed to main tobacco outlets in Spain &Italy as well, but to my question ,is this Kendal dark basically the very same as G&H Co Dark unscented Flake but in ribbon form or like Auld Kendal Dark shag cigarette Tobacco ?

their naming conventions are mind boggling but i guess we can thank the nanny state and its lawmakers for this. I wonder if this is Dark Bird's Eye for the non US market?

I detect a RYO masquerading as a pipe tobacco, fair enough. I'll pick some up next order. Ah, Auld Kendal Dark RYO with a broader cut. Malawi and Indian leaves. Unpressed version of Dark Flake Unscented.

Kendall Dark (Shag) has been readily available in the USA for many years. Supposedly Dark Plug, Dark Flake, and Kendall Dark are the same blend, just a different cut, at least that's what I was told many years ago. I like them all, but smoke a lot more Kendall Dark than the others. I also recall seeing a post by the GH people recently that indicated Kendall Dark, Dark Birdseye, and Kendall Kentucky are all the same. I don't believe it based on smoking all of these for years, they are definitely different. No experience with the current production so YMMV.

Kendal Kentucky is no longer made and has not been for a number of years. Dark Bird's Eye no longer made - due to not being able to get the birds eye bits and equivalent leaf it had morphed into Kendal Dark. Now there is ONLY Kendal Dark. This is a shag cut. It is effectively the same blend as Auld Kendal Dark but this is RYO cut. In the UK there are very strict rules on what can be classed as roll your own and what is pipe tobacco. The government sets the thickness of the cut for each.

Auld Kendal range = RYO
Kendal range = pipe tobacco as a shag cut

But yes Kendal Dark has been available for a few years in the States.
