dont forget craigslist... lots of deals there too. You just need to be cautious as with anything these days. I picked a slightly used Peterson Kapet for $15 from a couple in Wichita that inherited it from a family member. Neither of them smoked and want to get rid of it.

Thanks everyone for all the suggestions. I'm pretty sure I'm gonna save up and hold out for an uncle Arthur.

As a cheap bastard who has yet to pay more than $20 for a pipe, I reccommend getting various pipes off Ebay and fixing them up. Yes, it's labor intensive, but it yields experience as well as smoke. As for Uncle Arthur, he has made a stem for my corn cob pipe and it is excellent! Getting my own churchwarden from him is one of my dream pipes and will hopefully soon become a reality as soon as he takes my ridiculous vague idea and turns it into something practical.
Otherwise, just like those guys said.

Ebay can certainly yield treasures or bitter disappointment. I just grabbed a wonderful Comoy's sitter on Ebay for $18 that I cleaned up a bit and doubled my money, which was quickly spent on PAD....
