Putting Sealed Tins In Vacuum Sealed Bags

I have noticed a lot of people like to put their sealed tins in vacuum sealed bags. I know rectangle and square tins are prone to leakage so that makes sense. How much of a risk am I taking not putting tins in sealed bags? My collection is only 3-4 years old so I don’t have anything older than 5-6 years as of now.

If you just seal them in Mylar, they’ll be fine. Really no need for vacuum.

If you wear suspenders and a belt, bag your tins. I've run across 1 or 2 tins ever where the seal has been compromised. Also, if you have very many things, you just created a space eater by adding the bag.

I've been storing tins for future use for over 20 years. In all that time, I have had 1 rectangular tin fail, out of lord knows how many. I would not worry about it.

I have been vacuum sealing my tins for a long time, and am a true believer in doing so. None of us can predict if or when a seal is going to fail, so that's why I do it. However, I know lots of people who store tinned tobacco in just the tin and have done so for decades with no issues.

IMHO, if you store your tins in a space that is generally maintained at a temperature that a human feels comfortable in, with lowish humidity, you should be okay. But, if you want a little added piece of mind, it certainly can't hurt to vacuum seal...
