I have been think about doing this. The problem I have is that most of the pipes I want to get rid of are all worth less than $50 and I am not sure if it is worth the hassle of posting and shipping them.

Both pruning and growing -- pruning some so that I can add others I want in either different shapes/sizes or from different makers...

So you don't see selling a pipe as a loss, but rather working your way up to the god pipe?!!

Same here. I collect Brigham from a certain era, Peterson, Savinelli and some Chacoms and Jeantets. I would like to add more from those brands while getting rid of some other pipes from other makers....and i want to add some meers lol

Always feel a little bit of a "loss" when pruning an otherwise good pipe, but I like to think (or hope?) that the one replacing it will be even better!

Kind of same situation with me. I am pruning the last of my "newer" Dunhills (anything dating from 1960's onwards) to add a couple more pre-1940 Patent shells, and also reluctantly pruning a couple higher end handmade pipes from Artisans that I have more than one pipe from so that I can add another 1-2 pipes from other Artisans I don't have yet. Also, to extent possible, trying to have as many different shapes as possible.

I try to unload some from time to time. The problem is i’m growing more fonder of keeping almost all of them. I think I have over 50 and that many is really not required. I’d like to have around 10, each one dedicated to a single blend. But that’ll never happen.

I've had this same stand of 6 pipes haunting me for years now. Pipes I "made" pipes I've ruined, estates I've never smoked.

Last week, I threw the entire rack in the garbage. Saved 2 of the stems that came with pipe kits that weren't used. But I stewed over these pipes for a long time. Even an old favorite of mine that wasn't worth fixing. In the trash, all 6 of em.

That's how I am when I have too much of something. I was up over 200 pipes just a few years ago and tossed about 3/4 of them. I've got a set plan for the end game now and it makes pipes more difficult to buy.

That's what I'm pushing towards. Sets from Bruce, Jason, and Kenan with a set of CAO meerschaums for my desk at work.

Potentially... I don't even have 7 yet but I'm already considering it. I got one with a vulcanite stem and that is just too much of a pain in the butt. I also got another one online that is way too small (the picture was misleading). It's like a "lady's" pipe or something like that. I'm avoiding smoking these two, so likely should just find them a better home.

When I hit 300 pipes I decided that was enough pipes, so If I buy pipes I sell pipes. If there's something I want , I determine what I don't want anymore first. My collection is ever rotating, and changes with my taste.
