I’ve been at this a bit over a year and a half. My progression:
  1. I like this 1-Q. Better get more aros.
  2. I like this English. Better get more Englishes. What will I do with all these aros?
  3. I like this burley. Better get more burleys. What will I do with all these aros and Englishes?
  4. I like this Virginia. Better get more Virginias. What will I do with all these aros, Englishes, and burleys?
  5. Maybe I should just stick to Scottish Mixture.
So what’s next for me?

I pretty much use my own category system which works for me and disregard everything else.

Try some Bob's Chocolate Flake and relax instead. Lets see, it's aromatic with virginia, burley, and latakia so categorize however you want. Or don't and just enjoy the heck out of it. BTW, it also has a hint of Lakeland.

The pipe tobacco hierarchy for me: - Aromatics, VaPer, Latakia included, Virginias, and finally Burley. Includes all subsequent blends/types/compounds/mixtures/regionals, i.e. Balkans, Oriental, English, Lakeland, etc. Still enjoy them all, just depends on the mood.
