I knew there was a valid reason I don't care for sports.
I'm with you. The only pro sport I like watching is bicycle racing and as it turns out, their all on drugs.
I took my son to a White Sox game a few years ago and with 2 tickets, 2 hot dogs and fries, soda and parking it was over $120 for us. Thank goodness he decided he hated baseball the next year.

Last season was an end of an era...a friend and I were going to a 3 game series (F-SU) when the METS came to Atlanta...had a 7 yr run, but last year they weren't in town on a weekend, then my buddy moved to TN. Stayed in a hotel behind the stadium for $135. per night...runs about $50. during the off season. We save on parking and potential DUI by walking across the street. 20 oz water, $5., so add another 2 and get the beer. Glad I didnt go this weekend, rain out on FRI, lost a double on SAT. Anyhow, yes it is expensive but once a year splurge for something you enjoy isnt bad.
LYST, I agree w/you RE: yankees and Phils, but have to add the Braves on the evil list.

I guess it depends on what stadium you go to. Ticket prices for Cincinnati Reds games are much lower. Last season I visited my dad and caught a Reds game. We sat bottom bowl about 15 rows off the third base line and tickets were $45/seat. Not too bad considering how close to the action we were. The only really pricey tickets are the Diamond Seats behind homeplate for $235/seat. Cheapeast are bleacher seats for around $8/seat and nosebleeds are around $15/seat. I remember when the economy tanked my dad said the Reds did $5 nosebleeds for a whole season just to try and keep people coming to the games. Football prices are definitely too insanely expensive, but it's because those wimps only play 16 games a year and only 8 of those are at home. How else would they make a profit if the ticket sales weren't so insanely high? Hockey ticket prices are pretty high too, but I think that's because it doesn't have as big of a fan base and that's how they compensate to be able to pay their lease with the arena. Basketball tickets are crazy too. I heard Knicks tickets are gonna be starting at $100. Thing is there's enough rich people in and visiting Manhattan who'll pay for it. If fans want ticket prices down I think the only thing to do is boycott the pro sports. Hard to pay Ichiro his 30 million a year salary if there's nobody in the stadium or ordering MLB package. Maybe the fans should join the players in the NFL strike and only agree to show up to games again when ticket and concession prices are back to reasonable rates.

Wife and I went to Fenway Park one night on our honeymoon. Had seats 12 rows back from the Sox on-deck circle.
They were given to us by a family friend, but I recall him saying he could usually sell them for around $400 each...double if the Yankees were in town.

Love to watch baseball. I usually go to about four games a year. I have to put up with watching the Twins but they have a new stadium that is a treat. I have the Direct TV package so I can watch my Red Sox play. Nothing beats watching a good baseball game, drinking a cold beer, and smoking my pipe with a great tobacco. GO SOX!!!!

@nunsmkr Sadly, we haven't been a whole lot of fun to watch this year. Another sucktastic effort by the Sox tonight...
