Hey,

I've posted this in my original topic:

But it seems to me that this place is more appropriate.

I recently bought myself such a pipe - Prince of Wales "Progress":

I tried to find some info to at least determine its age.

I found information that it was a GBD brand:

Unfortunately, I can't find more information anywhere. E.g. when production ended....
Is there anyone here who has this knowledge?

Prince of Wales appears to have been used by multiple makers. "Who Made That Pipe" shows:

The COM stamp is often a good way to ID the maker (ie Sasieni used the same COM on their 2nd lines as their first line pipes). Post a picture of it please. Shape numbers are ofen similar between 1st and 2nd line pipes.

But, almost nothing is known about any of the British-Sub brands. You would have to scour catalogs, to see when it appeared, and left. Most sub-brands for GBD and Comoy's after the 1981 merger.

I’ve got a Prince of Wales ‘Lands End’ pipe that looks similar to your pipe (by the top view) The only other stamp on it is ‘274’ which must be a model number. No COM stamp. My pipe is set up for a 9mm filter. The finish is worn in a few places & it has some fills in the briar. But it is a good smoker. Ive reserved it for the occasional aro such as SWRA or Boswell Bear Blend when I’m in an aro mood. I wasn’t able to find any more information on it. I believe I got it for around $20 off of ebay years ago.

Just for the record, about ten years ago, I bought a Savinelli Prince of Wales, a different pipe that this one. It was discontinued, but is a good looking prince with a long stem, a bit like a prince shape version of the Bing Billiard.
