@cobguy, C&D Big n Burley is that a fuller burley blend than CH and SWR? I smoke either CH or SWR most of the time.
Thanks

John

It is ... the Burley is dominant all the way to the bottom in that great nutty / bready way.
CH will always have a spot in my heart but C&D makes some tasty Burley blends.
For a real Burley treat, I like Solani Aged Burley Flake.

I have been going through a couple oz of Prince Andrew over the last couple weeks. It's worth a try. I haven't actually had prince Albert to compare it to, but it is a good burley blend.

My Grandfather smoked half/half, swr, velvet. Had an uncle that smoked the same thing. In the 70's, 80's I pretty much smoked half&half tried pa then didn't care for it haven't ntried it since. I like burley thinking about trying some flake, not sure where to start.

Got in the habit of smoking a bowl of Prince Albert each night at bedtime. Lately at times I alternate it with Prince Andrew, but Prince Albert is what I more often than not turn to and it has become somewhat like macaroni & cheese, or whatever one considers as a 'comfort food'.

Like others, I used to love Burley. Lately, I can't take the way Burley dries out my mouth. But a few years ago I would bounce between The Prince, Carter Hall, and Lane's Burley Light Without Bite. Loved them all, Carter Hall best, than Burley Light Without Bite; The Prince, not as much.
Due to generous sales, I now have a two-lifetimes supply of Burley Light Without Bite.

I love my English, my Balkans, my VaPers and VaBurs, my fancy burleys, and even some Lakeland. But is a pouch of PA I keep on my car bench as my backup, emergency blend. If I run out of whatever my smoke of the moment is, it is PA to the rescue.
I tried it for the first time in decades a few months ago and there was dusty, musty touch to it I didn't like. But I let the pouch air out for a few weeks and liked it much better.
I also keep some Captain Black and Carter Hall around. These guys didn't last a half century or more in the market for nothing.

I've never gotten into OTC blends. Tried Half&Half and Captain Black, wasn't really a fan of either.
I'd venture to say a big part of the reason they've lasted 50yrs or so is because the same guys have been buying it for 50yrs or so.

While my main smokes for years have been Old Joe Krantz and Classic Burley Kake (or a 2-1 mix of them) along with a Pease lat blend and Filmore, Carter Hall is my around the clock, anytime/anywhere blend. I like it more than most of the expensive tinned blends on the market, I never tire of it, and it's both easily available and inexpensive. It blends well with most anything and is the best "break in" tobacco for a new pipe I've found.

Prince Albert is a nice blend as well, but lacks the sweetness and mild complexity that CH has. I smoke PA occasionally, but to my tastes it pales in comparison with CH.

I get a cocoa-ey, graham-ey, and slightly licorice-ey thing from PA. I get a little cocoa and a lot of nutty from CH. Like 'em both quite a bit.
