In 1939 R J Reynolds offered a free trial of the 1 3/4 ounce pocket tin of Prince Albert. Smoke 20 pipes or roll 30 cigarettes and if you weren’t happy mail the rest of unused tin back for a refund, if within a month of purchase. No doubt a few people took them up on it, but not many.

The same gimmick sells candy bars today, if you read the labels.



Can you imagine somebody counting 20 pipe fulls then sending back a 15 cent can of tobacco for a refund?

But fifteen cents was a big deal, in those days when dimes were silver.

Under appreciated today. Sooooo many exotics out there that PA just gets by passed...truly, a loss.

I have smoked 5 blends over the past 9 months but 2 are not really pipe tobacco. Of the 3 that are, Prince Albert has been consistently the best and I probably smoke it at least once every day.
