It is actually just called "C&D Virginia Flake"
I first tried it at DeathMetal's suggestion, and was like "meh" at the first bowl. But, then after a couple of more, I was working it into my rotation about three or four times a day.

Ah I see. I will have to add a few ounces to my next order. Your description makes it sound very good. Thanks for the info.

Try Sutliff's Elizabethan/Victorian Match. Best Virginia/Perique I've ever smoked.

I will have to give that one a try too. I've really enjoyed Stokkebye Luxury Navy Flake and still smoke it pretty frequently, but I'm sometimes getting a hint of some kind of topping or casing that doesn't really do it for me, and I'd like to try some other Va/Pers anyhow.

I like to stack a flake of PS LNF and LTF and twist them together and stuff them in the pipe. They both have a casing that is rather strong, but together they remind me of the aroma of new leather cowboy boots. I call it the Cosmic Twist. But, whatever... ha ha!

I haven't tried LTF but I will have to give that one a go as well. I liked the Luxury Bullseye Flake but thought it was similar enough to the LNF at the time that I just stuck with the LNF. That was when I was first experimenting with Virginias and a little bit with Va/Pers a year or so ago, so I might have to give it all another shot and see how I like them now.

For full disclosure, LTF is a Virginia Cavendish with a coconut casing, but most people have a hard time pinpointing the exact flavor to coconut. It is more like a caramel. By itself, it’s... ok. But like I said it becomes more magical alongside LNF.

Thanks for the fair warning. The coconut casing, which I recall (I think) from Jim Inks' review on tobaccoreviews.com, is why I skipped LTF in the first place. At the time I was first exploring various Virginia blends I was focusing on the natural grassy, earthy, and fruity notes in the various blends, but in retrospect there are times I might enjoy a hint of coconut puffy

regarding of Orlik Golden S it might be worthwhile mentioning when it was introduced to the Scandinavian market it was intended to be one of those basic 'everyday uncomplicated tobaccoes, OTC's if You want, and actually it is still holding this position in Denmark, probably being most popular blend there along with Singleton,Princeton, and such other Danish domestic tobacco offerings

Hmmm, all this talk of OGS has me kinda craving it. I haven't had it for a while now but I know just where the jar is. I've always liked that grassy, hay taste, with a little orange/citrus thrown in. Probably the Kansas upbringing - having flashbacks to the hay lofts...

I smoke virginias in any sized bowls (though I prefer narrower bowls for flakes). If I find a Virginia to be a little flat or boring, I’ve found that they do better in a smaller bowl. Sounds almost counterintuitive, but that’s been my experience. Of course, it’s pipe smoking where everything is subjective, so YMMV.
