Found this at a local estate sale.

K-briar. 106. Made in Ireland (block one line)

She needs a bit of loving, but still in good nick, and with original ‘K’ stem

From the COM markings, my gut says it’s a late 40s pre-republic model.

However, I’m aware that Peterson’s pipes can be notorious to date, and that the K-briar was also a more economical line that was introduced/discontinued in the 60s...

Sorry about the pic quality, you can really only see the nomenclature with high brightness setting on your screen.

Any experts out there that might be able to help assist in this mystery?

Also does anyone have any idea in regards to value/quality of smoke of these K-briars?

Cheers

K Briar 5/6 each in 1937
Cheers.

So if the K Briar line was introduced in 37, this would mean that the guess of late 40s just before the republic era began fits accordingly? Cool.

Wouldn't happen to know what they are worth today, and how they compare to other Peterson’s lines from that period?

yup I bought an unsmoked republic K-briar for around $30.

this being pre-republic maybe $40.

K-Briar is a low grade.
