I'm wondering if with the FDA BS blending at home by ourselves would be an option. I see that you can buy stuff like bulk blending ingredients (i.e. McClelland's Blending Perique), but not being a blender or knowledgeable about the process, I'm not sure this would be feasible.
Not that I'm asking Mr Pease or other master blenders to share their recipes or anything, but I'm wondering if blending our own and then, well, yes, sharing some of our own recipes on forums like this one would be indeed an option to replicate or 'revive' blends that are going to otherwise disappear, or even develop new ones right under the FDA's stinking nose. It wouldn't be like we'd be commercialising them anyway.

Well, I guess I'm a fanboy too, Cosmic. The Dark Lord has spoken. Time to pack a bowl of Perdurabo's (Haddo) Delight.

About three years in I started monkeying around with tobaccos, and the results were so pitiful that I gave up. Haven't tried again. The number of blends is beyond counting, and I'm glad to let those that know how to blend do the blending.

Olkofri, C&D have all of their blending components listed before the deadline. Overwhelming, Yes. Time to be an amateur blender. Sounds fun. Glad I've had some experience doing it. Time to become a Master.

Ah, good; I hate funeral services. And dislike most gov't agencies for their bloated budgets and ever increasing scope of what they deem (no pun, but a reference) to be in their purview. So, not just the FDA.
And, yes, a big thank you to Greg for not only his tobaccos but his writings as well. And photos. Damn good behind the lens. Since I saw a post by him a day or two ago, I knew he hadn't totally lost interest in the future of pipe tobacco.
Truck on, Greg, and best wishes,
John

I bet this would taste awesome with a bowl of Abingdon. It would HAVE to, right?

As I recall from reading the FDA regs back in mid 2016, the Rule deadlines apply to finished commercial products, not components. So home blend away!

There are more than a few threads on this forum for mixing and blending at home olkofri.

Here are a couple that have recent contributions. http://pipesmagazine.com/forums/topic/please-send-us-your-own-home-made-blends

glpease -"The fight isn't out of me yet with respect to pipes and tobacco, of course. I do have some plans there, too, but I can't say more about it at this time. Suffice to say that I am still very much involved, and have no immediate plans to change that."
Glad to hear it glpease. Thanks for all you have done for our community.

Macky did seem to intend his post to be a big “Thank you” to the man, the artist, and ledgend.

That was exactly the intent of my post.

Apologies for the misinformation, I read in another thread that he was pursuing other interests so just ASSumed (yes, I made an ass out of myself) that him and the other American blenders I like - McClellend, C&D, Russ - would not be able to bring any new blends to the market. Just my musings and reflections while enjoying a bowl of SF. I enjoy many tobaccos, but Greg's have long been a staple and favorite. I'm always impressed with his work.

Again, sorry for the poor wording and wrong assumptions.

G.L.Pease is THE MASTER BLENDER for Latakia mixtures. Every time I light up a pipe with Abingdon, I'm transported to late 19th century London, according to what I know about it from reading books and watching themed movies. Imagination, the sense of smell and taste, are our best allies to fulfill the need for a temporal experience.

Don’t scare me like that.
GLP is by far my favorite tobacco. And I only just recently started exploring the Drucquer&sons blends. Which btw, are very good as well.

So, G.L.P. is still alive? Good.
Anyone who was around for USENET is of interest in my book, and I like his "Jacknife Plug" as an all-day smoke.
