Heavy Metal (Take a Ride) by Don Felder
Heavy Metal (1981)
Good one, fantastic soundtrack! I saw that one in the theater.
Don Felder, not known as a heavy metal artist, but great song!

Also included one of the best songs Sammy Hagar ever wrote!

I wasn't a Donald Fagen fan at the time. Tonight, his name on the cover caught me out - he has a cut as well, great guitar work by Grulnick! I do not remember this story.

This song also reminds me of 9/11...
My girlfriend had taken me to a movie for my birthday a couple days before I went off to MEPS, and there was a trailer for the original Toby Maguire Spider-Man movie. I was so juiced! (The original trailer was pulled from circulation, but can be seen below) They recut the final scene of the movie as a 9/11 tribute and the song rolled over the end credits.

Some real icons here for sure but also a few I'm not familiar with.

Here's one I consider iconic that I remember from childhood and probably would never have known the song if not for the movie:

One of my personal favorites that is easily recognizable and makes me smile and I often catch myself whistling:

Another icon even though it's not my cup of tea but it's another from when I was young (I blame my mom for this one):

This one could be a little obscure for some but I will always associate the song with the movie and the movie is what I instantly think of when I hear the song:

This one is iconic from my youth and I will never forget this movie intro which would not work without the song:
