A big disappointment for me was LJ Peretti's Thanksgiving Day. I was really looking forward to it and then it arrived and it was so floral/perfume forward, I ended up throwing it away which I've never done with any other tobacco. I still feel a little bad about that, but to me it was almost unsmokable. I really don't understand the flower flavor in tobacco.

Don’t want to say Im disgusted with these, but I don’t think ill go out of my way to go deep on them either. Also not sure if all these are super popular.

Sunbear anything. I was kindly sent samples of the lineup sans Navy Cask. I just dont get the reason it sells like crack.

Pegasus, initially I was all aboard. Got myself 8oz soon after finishing my 2oz. Then I just stopped reaching for it as much. This goes for Engine 99 as well. 99 just became too much. What I seemed to have ended up enjoying is English’s like Samarra and Kings Fool.

Wilke 191, Gramarcy Park, Lizzie’s blood red english.

Pease Geomitrie and Haddo’s Delight

Peretti burley’s Ive only had a few 1oz samples( cant remember which ones now) but that Peretti signature topping or whatever it is reminds me of a musty old closet and even though the leaf was fantastic. That closet taste that went with it wasn’t something Id want to continue to taste. Though now I have more experience and have been smoking more burley’s I’m considering trying them again. Because I feel like it would be dumb not to give such a storied blender another chance.

There are a few I can think of for myself, idk if they are all widely loved blends but I am not that much in the know of things.

Amphora Burley- like smoking decaf chocolate flavored air

Half and half- I don’t get the love for this one. Must have been a lot different in the past

MB Vanilla Cream- not a fan of aro’s so no suprise but this one was bad enough that its worth mentioning.

Balkan Sobranie- this one I might get some hate for. Burnt tires. One dimensional burning flavor of black rubber.

While I can scarf up SG FVF all day long, Best Brown? Awa wi ye! No no no.
I’m the exact opposite on these two favorites😉

I’ve found the old adage, “there’s no accounting for taste” comes in heavily on this topic. Reviews, no matter how objective they may be, are a subjective guide I use to only eliminate components I’ve found I do not like, but are definitely no guarantee I will like a blend no matter how much it sounds like it’ll be good for me.
Then there’s the matter of “palate shift” where I now have no love for blends I could not get enough of prior.
The variety is what I like about smoking a pipe, it’s quite the opposite of when I smoked the same cigarettes day in/day out for decades.

I just roll with it, and unless I absolutely abhor a blend, it stays on the shelf to revisit later.

Condor: Holy smokes! Hard pass.
Clan: Not proper smoking. Is it tobacco.? Not as I know it. Sweepings up.
I think Clan is the opposite of the question asked. Which nothing wrong with that. But I've heard two or three people say they like clan and they said it about the same way people admit to weird fetishes.
Erinmore: Only thing good about this is the tin art.
Literally a favorite of mine. But it seems like love/hate for that one.
St Bruno: Just no. And no.
Lakeland blends: Granny's knicker drawer (I assume, not speaking from experience)
I didn't know how I'd feel about the lakeland sauce. I think it's grand. But it seems again to be a love hate thing with those. And the weird thing is I can't put my finger on what I like about them.

Hmmm.
Orlik Golden Slice — just tasted flat and papery
Esoterica Pembroke — nasty
Germain’s plum cake - smoked through the whole time. Gave it every shot possible. Weird tasting and not pleasant.

Those are the most memorable.

I agree with you on all of this except the St. Bruno. For some strange reason it (barely) passes muster with me.

Haunted Bookshop hard pass for me. But the one that stands out above all others in its wretchedness, is Sutliff Molto Dolce. A true villain of a tobacco, if it even is a tobacco. I didn't pick the pipe up for a few days after that, a shocking experience. I wouldn't go near it again in a hazmat suit.
