Thanks guys,

Nope no cobs were injured in the making of these bands.

Scloyd, Dan makes great pipes. I have three of his, and all three are favorites.

Embers, I'll leave that set of skills to the pipemakers. I do have a few plans on the back burner for more silverwork on a pipe, but I'm not attempting the woodwork.

If I remember right, you showed a collaboration with Skip, no? Very nice work.

I have made several pipes with Skip, but I learned enough to better appreciate having someone else do it for me. I mean I could make more pipes for myself, but I really appreciate the whole shopping, meeting pipemakers, and getting a brand new pipe in the mail thing.

Besides if I hung out with Skip even more, I would never get anything done, ha ha. We end up cutting up more than anything.
Making some bands for myself and maybe a few friends is enough of a diversion in the studio for me. I really don't want to buy a lathe and all of the other stuff that I would need. There is a cost and return scenario that just doesn't work for me.

Now that's pretty cool. When I read the original story about the pipe breaking, I felt the pain. But this is now a success story. And maybe years from now, it will still be one of your favorite pipes, and we'll all remember the story.
