Best thing is to glue-in a hardwood plug and apply some mud next day.

I've a couple MM Legend cobs that developed squishy bottoms, so I bought a hardwood dowel at Home Depot for a few bucks, then whittled and cut a couple hardwood plugs. Glued them in with Elmer's wood glue. I kept the dowel, which would probably make another fifty hardwood plugs when needed. I should be set for a while :puffy:
Some of the pricier MM cobs come with a hardwood plug already installed.
