Collin and I carry the same watch; albeit mine was a gift and I can't take decent photographs of it to save my life.
Coincidentally, watch chains make a great lanyard for Czech tools.

I've always wanted a pocket watch, but I'm currently saving for a Panerai Luminor 1950 3 days, my god I need a Panerai. With the price at $10300, I should be able to afford one by retirement.

Funny you bring up Panerai...a friend of mine just purchased a 60mm Radiomir...thing is bigger then most of my pocketwatches! If the luminor your dream watch, it's a good investment. If you just like the looks, there are some really nice swiss made replicas for cheap.

The Luminor is my dream watch by far, I've seen nice replicas, but they're too big a gamble for me. Not to mention the movements are so beautiful. If you can recommend a decent replica I could buy as a placeholder, I'd dig the suggestion.

All of these are swiss made, have swiss movements, and are virtually identical to the originals. I've seen these in person (buddy bought a replica of a super expensive one), they are nice, the only negative is if you wear it a lot or are hard on it, the straps tend to wear out within a couple years. I'm considering getting a 1950, as the originals are near impossible to find, and way to pricey!

I forgot that I had my grandfathers pocket watch. It is a Waltham from the late '20's. He was a coal miner in Wilkes-Barre PA. It doesn't work and I should get it fixed. I missed a golden opportunity to fix the watch and get some training from a railroad clock master who was related to my wife. His eyes had grown too weak and hands too shaky but he still had all his tools and watch parts. He asked me several times to bring the watch over and we would fix it together. I finally made an attempt and learned he had sold the who parts/tools set to a VA watch repairman. He passed a way a short time later, a wasted opportunity.

I have to disagree with harrier on the no quartz movement/ no Colibri thing. My wife got me THIS awesome pocket watch for my birthday this year. It is awesome, no winding (yeah I know, that's half the fun, but I'd always have a dead watch because I'd forget to wind it), easy to read, has a nice feel to it and it keeps excellent time. I use it every day. I switched out the chain since it was meant for a vest button and not pants and I'm super careful about closing it since the instructions say snapping it closed without depressing the release will wear it down over time. Other than that, I love it.

Cthulu has a point though. I'm always looking at other pocket watches now and I may just have to get a Charles Hubert like harrier suggests just so I can have more than one.

Im not completely anti quartz movement i own a quartz pocket watch made by Relic. But I really love my mechanical movements. It amazes me to watch all the gears going and how well it keeps time. I never really forget to wind mine as its the last thing i do before bed. Good practice depressing the button to close the face it will eventually wear out and not close anymore if you dont.
