I have quite the dilemma. I have a lot of open pipe tobacco in pocket jars and I dont smoke them quick enough before they are totally dry. I had a thought. Leaving the jar open in a cigar humidor to bring back the moisture. Then closing and leaving in the humidor to store until using. Does anyone else have experience doing this or perhaps I'm on my own in this.

In the future, I'd only pack the PocketJars before a trip, and return the tobacco to Mason jars if you're not going to smoke it right away.
Yeah I figured that would be a good idea but with so many jarred and not enough time to smoke it ended up with 10 pocket jars full of dried out tobacco
Not too bad for the Virginias I have in pocket jars since those were plug and really wet. But the English and aromatics are badly dry.

This is why I most often load blends like D&R Two Timer, Ryback, and Picayune into my pocket jars. They are dry blends on their own, and no amount of additional desiccation will make a bit of difference. Plus, they deliver a great smoke in a very short amount of time, which is usually all I have when I am out and about anyway.

In answer to your question, given enough time the tobacco should recover moisture in a humidity controlled humidor. However, there is a chance the blends could take on some of the flavors from the cigars. Tobacco can absorb odors pretty well. Just something to consider.

Dump it back with the jarred or tinned blends it came from or smoke it.
Tobacco smokes fine dry and actually usually better.
I wouldn’t be concerned about it unless it’s a shag cut that will dust on you pretty quickly.
As far as English and Aro’s I’d think they improved although the flavor has probably muted a little.

It depends if you like your pipe tobacco at the same humidity than your cigars or not. If your humidor works with a humidifier compartment, in which you pour water, it might be damp enough to properly rehydrate your pipe tobacco. If you are using humidity packs, it might be too dry and will smoke quickly, harshly and hot. But then, I am not an expert, nor do I know what kind of humidor you are using.

Best luck to you, dear!

Cheers

I throw pocket jars in a mylar bag and fold it over a few times and rubber band it. Just took out one i’ve had like this for many months and it was good still.

The actual “pocket jars” for me have held tobacco just as well as a regular jar. I’ve only got one, but it’s got a special blend sample I was gifted in it and it’s perfectly fine well over a year (closer to two) later.
