Congratulations Dave! I was at the dinner and sure enjoyed seeing you recognized for your efforts. I am sorry we didn't have the opportunity to visit afterwards but hopefully, will see you again next year.

Wow!
Damned proud of the pipe community recognizing Dave's efforts in providing such simple comforts to our men and women in uniform.
What a mensch.

I kinda like Dave's jacket, but as you can see from my avatar, I have a wide-reaching fashion sense. How's that for euphemism?

It is great that Dave was recognized for all the effort he has put in on the FPP. Kudos to you, Dave.
Question relating to the jacket. Did Dave carry his pipes in a violin case?

Thanks everyone. It was very exciting and I am very humbled and honored to be chosen. My hope is that through this we will be able to reach even more new smokers and continue to especially take care of our veterans and active duty military. I'm planning to do some special pushes through the Free Pipe Project throughout the year with just that in mind. I'll keep you guys posted.
I want to say a big thanks to Kevin for letting me use Pipes Magazine as a platform to run this project and I want to thank all of you guys who have donated stuff over the years. I have gotten pipes, tobacco, tampers, racks, magazines, t-shirts, hat pins, pipe cleaners, lighters and other smoking related items. We started this with a couple of brylons that had been donated, but have given away many high end pipes, unsmoked treasures, and restored classics, not to mention over 70 lbs of tobacco all donated by the community. And I hope to do even more in the coming years.
As for the jacket, I happen to like it and its comfy. What's funny is, one of the CPCC guys asked me if I brought a tie for the ceremony. When I said no, he just shook his head, and said "you young guys." And you can't see it but the polo I have on has my buddy's USMC unit on it. The first pipe I ever gave away was made for him and was actually the first pipe I ever made from scratch, so I thought it fitting to wear that shirt. Just another way to honor him and others like him. Thank you all again for your kind words!
