Is it just me or once the Licoricre topping is gone from BS, do both these blends taste almost indiscernible?
I agree. When a can of Bengal slices is first opened and the topping is fresh it is very distinguishable. After being jarred for a year, they are very close to me.I find that the current iterations of these do taste very similar, like same blend, different topping. They used to be very different back in the day (a common theme, I know).
A good situation to be in!It's you. Some people can't tell captain black from ten russians so.
I can: Bengal Slices is more expensive.It's you. Some people can't tell captain black from ten russians so.
I’ll jump on that. You’re speaking (I assume ) of the Bengal Slices that have been produced for the last while.I find that the current iterations of these do taste very similar, like same blend, different topping. They used to be very different back in the day (a common theme, I know).
I didn’t realize this. Maybe it’s like Presby Reformation tasting exactly like the cheaper mocha flake of a different name.I’ll jump on that. You’re speaking (I assume ) of the Bengal Slices that have been produced for the last while.
I think that abomination of a good name is made by the folks who make the SPC blends, so you may not be far off.
yeah excepting the fact that they will go online and argue that we're all idiots for thinking it's not the same blend with a different package.A good situation to be in!
I talk to Russ, but Russ doesn't talk to me. He hasn't posted here in two years and hasn't logged in since August of last year.The Standard Tobacco of PA version of 'Fungal Slices' was I am told by old timers as near as possible to the original. I know that it was produced under license from Standard Tobacco and distributed by C.I and I may be wrong but I believe it was made by Lane in Georgia. Since C.I purchased the trade mark from ourselves they have produce Bengal Slices White but the last time I purchased a tin of 'Fungal Slices' it seemed to taste like it did when we first resurrected the blend. Ask @woodsroad since he is really up to speed with all this stuff and I think still talks to Russ.
So they were the SAME thing?I talk to Russ, but Russ doesn't talk to me. He hasn't posted here in two years and hasn't logged in since August of last year.
The Standard Tobacco version of Bengal Slices had always been manufactured by Sutliff. It outsold Fusilier's Ration (which is the same exact blend) 10:1
@blendtobac where are you?
